Dowsing Rods were first written about in 1568, and have been used for various reasons since then. Originally Dowsing Rods were simple branches from trees with a specific shape, a Y. They were used as a way to find water, which some farmers still use accurately to this very day. As Dowsing Rods gained popularity it was realized that these rods could sense more than just water, like metals and earth energies.
The use of the rods has become more popular over the centuries and more recently with paranormal investigations. Some people who are more attuned with there spiritual side are able to use them successfully.
